A 45-year-old Regina woman is facing an impaired driving charge after a single-vehicle collision Tuesday that claimed the life of a dog.
In a media release Wednesday, the Regina Police Service said it got a call Tuesday just after 8:30 a.m., about a crash in the area of Second Avenue North and Winnipeg Street.
Officers were told a vehicle was travelling north on Winnipeg Street at high speed when it left the road and rolled. A dog was ejected from the vehicle and killed.
The woman driving the vehicle and a child who was a passenger suffered minor injuries. The child was taken to hospital by paramedics as a precaution.
Officers believed the driver was impaired and had a drug recognition expert conduct an examination. Police also found the woman was a disqualified driver who had three warrants out for her arrest.
She was charged with impaired driving by drug causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, breach of probation and driving while disqualified.
She made her first court appearance Wednesday.
