An incident early Saturday that sent a seven-year-old girl to hospital with head injuries has led to a charge of attempted murder against a 24-year-old Regina man.
Greg Joshua Brittain also was charged with failure to comply with a court order that police say prohibited him from contacting the residents of the house at which the incident happened.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers got a call Saturday just before 4:30 a.m., to assist a citizen in the area of Brotherton Avenue and Cavendish Street.
A taxi driver told police he had come across a girl who was bleeding from the head. The girl wasn’t wearing shoes or a jacket and there weren’t any adults with her.
Paramedics took the girl to hospital; she’s expected to fully recover from her injuries.
After determining the girl lived on Cavendish, officers went to her address and found a man who was trying to leave the house. Further investigation led to his arrest.
Police said the man isn’t a stranger to the girl or her family.
Brittain made his first court appearance Monday.
