The Regina Police Service is investigating an incident of apparent road rage that occurred at a red light Friday — and charges have been laid after another incident on the streets Thursday.
In a media release Monday, the police said they responded Friday at about 5:20 p.m., to the intersection of Pasqua Street and Donahue Avenue for a report of an assault.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been bleeding from the face. He told police he was stopped at a red light at the intersection when a man parked behind him, got out of his vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle.
Police said the men started arguing and the victim got out of his vehicle. The other man then allegedly assaulted the victim and drove off.
The suspect’s vehicle is a light-coloured GMC Terrain. The suspect is described as a Caucasian in his 30s, approximately 6-foot-0 with a muscular build, dark brown hair and tattoos on both arms.
Police believe he may live near the location of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Gun pointed in second incident
In another media release, police said they responded Thursday at about 5:20 p.m., to the 1300 block of Argyle Street for a gun call.
According to the police, two vehicles nearly collided at the intersection of Argyle and Seventh Avenue, prompting one of the drivers to honk their horn at the other. The second driver responded by allegedly pulling out a gun and pointing it at the vehicle with the honking horn.
Police identified the suspect vehicle and executed a search warrant on a house on the 3800 block of 20th Avenue. The search turned up a gun, ammunition, a large amount of money and evidence of drug trafficking.
A 30-year-old Regina man was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and one count each of pointing a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, tampering with the serial number of a firearm, possession of a weapon, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.
