A nine-year-old boy is fighting for his life in a Saskatoon hospital after what his grandmother is calling a drowning incident at Pike Lake on Tuesday.
Zoe Bunnie confirmed to 650 CKOM in a Facebook message Wednesday morning that her nine-year-old grandson was still in hospital following Tuesday’s incident.
“(He) is such a beautiful little man … His smile can light up a room,” Bunnie said when speaking about the injured nine-year-old.
Just after 4 p.m., the Saskatoon Fire Department was dispatched to Pike Lake after a mutual aid request in the area.

Water rescue crews arrived on the scene, finding the boy unresponsive on the shoreline being attended to by paramedics and police.
It is believed that the boy was not wearing a life jacket when he was removed from the water.
CPR was then administered as the STARS Air Ambulance prepared to transport the boy to a hospital in Saskatoon. He was transported in critical condition just before 5 p.m.
The collaborative response included Saskatoon Fire, Medavie Health Services West, the RCMP, STARS, Delisle & District Fire Department and Saskatchewan Provincial Parks staff.
