Saskatchewan health officials reported five new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.
Three of the cases are in the Saskatoon zone, and two are in the south central zone.
The province now has 40 active cases.
There was one new recovery to report, according to a news release from the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The total number of recoveries was bumped to 1,579 people.
Two people are in hospital, both of which are in Saskatoon. One person is intensive care, while the other is receiving inpatient care.
Friday, 2,123 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan.
Drive-through testing sites that do not require a referral will open Tuesday in Regina and Thursday in Saskatoon.
Regina’s drive-through testing will happen at Hall C of the International Trade Centre at Evraz Place. Testing will take place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Saskatoon’s drive-through is located at 3630 Thatcher Avenue. Testing will take place between noon and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
A valid Saskatchewan health card will be required for a test. A Canadian Armed Forces number or interim federal health identification will also be accepted.
“The drive-through sites will be first come, first served so there may be some wait times,” The Saskatchewan Health Authority said in a release on Saturday. “You must wait in your vehicle. There are no public washrooms available at these sites and you will be required to wear a mask during the registration process.”
