The Saskatchewan RCMP is investigating the death of a 40-year-old man whose body was found last week near the Yellowhead Highway just west of Springside.
In a media release Tuesday, the RCMP said investigators from the Major Crimes Unit-South and members from the Yorkton detachment are trying to determine what happened to Darwin Keith Whitehawk, who was reported missing in late July.
On Sept. 16, the Yorkton RCMP got a call about human remains that were found near Highway 16 about eight kilometres west of Springside. The body of a man was located a short distance away from the highway.
An autopsy conducted Monday in Saskatoon identified the remains as those of Whitehawk.
Anyone with information about the activities of Whitehawk prior to his disappearance is asked to contact the Yorkton RCMP at 306-786-2400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Springside is about 25 kilometres northwest of Yorkton.
