A traffic stop near Herbert has resulted in drug and weapons charges against a Regina man.
According to the RCMP, a member of the Roving Traffic Unit stopped an eastbound car Friday at about 6:30 p.m., because the vehicle had tinted windows and taillights.
The officer found the driver was in possession of a pack of unstamped tobacco and arrested him.
A subsequent search of the vehicle found half a kilogram of methamphetamine, 18 individual half-gram bags of a substance suspected to be cocaine, about $1,600 in Canadian money, brass knuckles, a Taser and a collapsible baton.
The 35-year-old driver was charged with three counts each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon, and one count each of possession of unstamped tobacco, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
After appearing in front of a justice of the peace in Swift Current on Saturday, the man was released from custody. He’s to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on Dec. 9.
Herbert is about 130 kilometres west of Moose Jaw.
