8:30 – Both the Saskatchewan Party and the New Democratic Party are making tax-related campaign promises. Scott Moe and the Sask. Party say they will reduce the small business tax rate for the next three years if re-elected and Ryan Meili and the NDP have proposed a wealth tax if elected. Jason Childs, associate professor of economics at the University of Regina, joins Gormley to discuss the campaign promises and the potential impact they could have on the economy.

10:00 – While Saskatchewan will choose its provincial leaders Oct. 26, Americans will head to the polls Nov. 3 to decide their new president. While Canadian federal elections are decided by who gets the most seats by riding, the US elections are decided by their sometimes-confusing Electoral College. Dr. Daron Shaw, who studies government at the University of California and formerly worked as a campaign strategist, joins Gormley to explain the Electoral College and how it’s used to determine the outcome with an United States election.

11:00 – Is Halloween safe during COVID-19? A new poll from Leger and the Association for Canadian Studies found only 48% of Canadians are planning to let send children trick-or-treating this year, compared to 61% last year. In Saskatchewan 60% said they would let children trick-or-treat, down just 5% from 2019. More than half (52%) of Canadians surveyed and almost half (48%) in Saskatchewan said the government should step in and cancel Halloween, but is the risk really that great?
