The Regina Police Service determined Wednesday evening that a bomb threat received in the afternoon was a hoax.
Just before 4 p.m., a man called the Regina police saying he was inside the Cornwall Centre with an explosive device.
Officers blocked off the area around the mall, while others joined security personnel to search areas of the mall to which the public has access. The search also involved a police canine team trained to detect explosives.
By about 6:40 p.m., police were satisfied there wasn’t an explosive device in the building.
The police investigation is continuing. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
