Just over a month after its launch, Regina Transit’s four-month-long on-demand pilot project is already being expanded.
The project started Aug. 31 on Route 10 on the city’s west side.
On Friday, the City of Regina issued a media release saying “service results and valuable feedback from customers showed the opportunity to offer more pickup and dropoff options.”
Starting Tuesday, transit users will be able to use the on-demand service at another 167 stops in Regina’s north end. The expanded service will include the Northgate Mall and the Avonhurst Shopping Mall.
The on-demand service is available Monday to Friday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Rides can be booked through the “On Demand Transit: Rider App” (available at Google Play or the Apple App Store) or online at Regina.ca/ondemand.
Bookings also can be made between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., by calling 306-777-7725 up to two days in advance.
The pilot project will determine if the service will increase Regina Transit’s ridership and reduce wait times for passengers while also using fewer buses.
