Divas Nightclub in Saskatoon is shutting its doors, but not for good.
According to a Facebook post Saturday, Divas Nightclub says it is closing temporarily and will work with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) on a new system for the sector.
“We have started working with SHA this week to implement a revolutionary new system with the intent this can be used in other nightclubs and late night bars who are all struggling with keeping people abiding by set out safety guidelines when in the venue of their choice,” the post reads.
Divas said it doesn’t know how long the closure will be, or how long the process will take.
“We want to stay open in a safe and respectful manner and still allow for a great night out,” the post reads.
The Saturday Facebook post comes following a video that shows a packed dancefloor at the club, shared widely on social media.
Over the past weekend, a Snapchat video has surfaced of Diva’s Nightclub in #yxe, with a packed dance floor.
PiNK, another Saskatoon nightclub called the acts “infuriating and disappointing.”

Divas referred to the video in its Facebook post, as “causing much concern.”
“Divas’ only concern has and will always be the safety and needs of our customers. We were one of the first businesses to close, and the last to open, additionally closing for a two week period following reopening when we learned by social media someone who may have been in our club may have tested positive,” the post reads.
Divas said the instance was never confirmed by the SHA, but it took precautions for the safety of patrons.
Divas said SHA has inspected the establishment multiple times since reopening and approved its processes and measures in place. It said SHA’s measures are not working, but said it will work with the authority to “do better.”
“We will be behind the scenes recreating a safe and exciting new space, please know we are all in this together, and hope that in light of all the dark on the internet and the world today, you all remember we are all doing the best we can in navigating forward during the COVID19 pandemic and our world as we currently know it,” the statement reads.
