A northern Saskatchewan First Nation has declared a COVID-19 outbreak.
The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) declared the outbreak on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation Thursday afternoon.
According to a press release, “an increasing number of confirmed cases” have popped up in the community.
“Contact tracing investigation is underway and community pandemic response have been activated,” the release reads.
“At this time, prevention remains the best way to protect yourself. These include wearing face masks, maintaining 2 meters physical distancing, washing your hands, staying home if sick, and following the public health guidelines.”
Public health officials are advising anyone who is experiencing, or has experienced, COVID-19 symptoms to immediately self-isolate and call HealthLine811 for testing.
