Put it on the calendar: Nov. 16.
CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie will be giving fans a state of the league address during the newly announced virtual Grey Cup week.
The CFL is dubbing it Grey Cup Unite.
The dates coincide with the week that would have been party after party here in Saskatchewan. It was nice to finally get something from the Canadian Football League.
It’s a nice morsel for some fans to eat up for another few weeks but now the fans are expecting something more substantial than what we heard from Ambrosie on the Green Zone on Thursday.
He gave us a passionate promise that league officials are trying their hardest to get football back on the field in 2021, but I don’t think trying or hoping for is going to cut it for the fans tuning into Ambrosie’s speech.
And I honestly don’t think they’ll be let down. I believe a plan or plans will be in place by then to get the CFL back next season. If not, stay tuned for my commentary on Nov. 17.
