8:30 – Some parts of Canada are deep into a second wave of COVID-19, while other areas have their cases down to single digits or even zero. In Saskatchewan we broke our records for number of active cases and daily new cases last week, but do those figures tell us the whole story? To give us an overview of how Saskatchewan’s COVID-19 numbers and our infection rate compare to other provinces, John is joined by Dr. Timothy Sly, an epidemiologist and professor of public health who helped manage the SARS pandemic in Toronto.
LIVE: Dr. Timothy Sly, epidemiologist and Professor in the Ryerson School of Occupational and Public Health.
9:00 – The Hour of the Big Stories… Open Session
10:00 – With the civic elections drawing near in Saskatoon and Regina, we want to know what you consider the biggest issues in your city, and which mayoral candidate has the best plan to tackle it. Give Gormley a call at 1-877-332-8255 and let us know the #1 issue for YOU, and which candidate you’ll be supporting.
11:00 – Saskatoon is seeing a huge volume of applications for mail-in ballots ahead of the civic election. Is Regina experiencing similar volumes? We’ll catch up with Regina’s returning officer to find out what their message for voters is ahead of the election. Did you vote by mail, or do you feel more confident placing your physical ballot into the box personally? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255 and let us know!
LIVE: Jim Nicol, City Clerk and Returning Officer for the 2020 Regina Municipal/School Board Election.
12:00 – Scientists at the U of S are studying Saskatoon’s wastewater to get information about COVID-19 rates. The technique allows them to predict changes in the amount of virus present in the city about a week before the changes appear in case numbers. Environmental toxicologist Dr. John Giesy joins Gormley to tell us more.
LIVE: Dr. John Giesy, U of S Professor and Canada Research Chair in Environmental Toxicology.
