A 22-year-old Regina woman ended up with quite the trick after holding a Halloween party with roughly 50 people in attendance.
She has been issued a $2,800 fine for disobeying COVID-related provincial public health orders limiting the size of private gatherings.
According to the Regina Police Service, officers responded to a house in the Uplands neighbourhood on Sunday around 1 a.m. When police arrived, they saw about 30 people running away from the home, hurdling over the house’s fence and into a nearby park.
Police spoke with the residents at the home and advised them they were in violation of the public health order limiting the size of private gatherings.
The officers told the residents the Saskatchewan Health Authority would be notified and there would possibly be follow-up from the police.
On Thursday, an officer went back to the home and issued a ticket totalling $2,800.
“The Regina Police Service (RPS) urges Regina residents to familiarize themselves with the Public Health Orders in effect during the COVID-19 pandemic,” police said in the release. “There is more at stake than tickets and fines. We all have a responsibility when it comes to community health and safety.”
