For the fourth straight day, Saskatchewan has reported more than 100 new cases of COVID-19.
In a media release Tuesday, the Ministry of Health said there were 127 new cases in the province.
That followed days with totals of 116 (Saturday), 159 (Sunday) and a single-day record 190 (Monday).
On Tuesday, the province also reported all-time single-day highs in new recoveries (111), number of people in hospital (44) and active cases (1,305). The number of cases in Saskatchewan since March reached 4,214.
Of the 127 new cases reported Tuesday, 125 are in Saskatchewan and two are residents of the province who tested positive in other locations.
The new cases included 50 in the Saskatoon area, 31 in the Regina region, 11 in the northwest, six in each of the far northwest, far northeast, central-east and south-central zones, four in the far north-central area, and two in each of the north-central, northeast and central-west areas.
The hometown of one case remains unknown.
The recoveries reported Tuesday increased that total so far to 2,880. To date, 29 residents of the province have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
The number of active cases being reported includes 413 in the Saskatoon area, 258 in the Regina region, 204 in the north-central area and 114 in the northwest.
There are 11 people in intensive care, with six in Saskatoon, two in each of the Regina and north-central regions and one in the central-east zone.
Of the 33 people receiving inpatient care, 18 are in the Saskatoon area, seven are in the north-central area, three are in the Regina region, three are in the northwest, one is in the northeast and one is in the far northwest.
The Saskatoon area has now reported 1,179 cases since March, with 902 cases reported in the north. There also have been 604 cases in the Regina region, 553 from the south area, 520 from the far north, and 445 in the central zone.
The hometowns of 11 cases are pending.
The total number of cases comprises 1,931 community contacts, 975 that are under investigation by public health, 914 that don’t have any known exposures, and 394 travellers.
To date, 122 health-care workers have contracted the virus.
There have been 1,544 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 1,190 between the ages of 40 and 59, 854 involving people 19 and under, 522 from ages 60 to 79, and 104 aged 80 and over.
The 1,837 tests done in Saskatchewan on Monday increased the province’s total to date to 285,858.
