00 – The Hour of the Big Stories… Open Session
00 – Nobody pulls together and helps each other out quite like the people of Saskatchewan do after a major snowfall. From the people pushing stuck vehicles out of snowbanks, to the snowmobilers who helped ferry healthcare workers to hospitals, there were lots of stories of people going above and beyond to help each other out. Did you encounter a blizzard hero or helper? Give Gormley a call at 1-877-332-8255 and share your warmest stories on this chilly morning.
00 – As Remembrance Day approaches, we wanted to catch up with historian Ted Barris to discuss some of the less-recognized stories from Canada’s war history. Barris will share some stories on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands, the Battle of the Atlantic, the surrender of Germany to Canadians on May 5, 1945, and more. Do you have a question about Canada’s military history? Give us a call at 1-877-332-8255.
LIVE: Ted Barris, historian, journalist, professor, and award-winning author of 12 wartime histories.
00 – Prince’s Trust Canada, a national charity established by The Prince of Wales, is encouraging Canadians to “but veteran” to help support our former armed forces members. The Canadian Veteran Business Directory can be found at BuyVeteran.ca, and veterans can also list their businesses. It’s a great way to show your support for vets, in addition to the gratitude we express on Remembrance Day. The charity is also working to partner veterans with established entrepreneurs to help them succeed. Kathleen Kilgour with Prince’s Trust Canada joins Gormley to tell us more.
