6:30 p.m.
Alberta has set a new record for its number of new COVID-19 cases for the third straight day.
The province announced 1,336 new cases on Saturday as well as nine new deaths.
Saturday also marks the third straight day that the number of new cases has surpassed 1,100.
Officials have previously said that the high caseload has overwhelmed contact tracing and strained the health-care system.

4:35 p.m.
Both New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador are asking residents travelling to Nova Scotia to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 when they get home.
In an advisory today, New Brunswick officials singled out travellers to Halifax, noting Nova Scotia health officials have identified community transmission in the city.
Newfoundland and Labrador is also asking residents visiting Nova Scotia to limit their close contacts while there, and to avoid large public gatherings for two weeks after they return.

Nunavut is reporting 25 new cases of COVID-19 today, 22 of which are in Arviat.
Along with three new cases in Whale Cove, and the recovery of two cases in Sanikiluaq, the total number of active cases in the territory stands at 107.
Premier Joe Savikataaq says in a statement that he knows the daily numbers in Nunavut seem scary, but he says it’s not a reason to panic.
He says Nunavut will continue to see dips and rises for some time, and he says he’s proud of people’s efforts to slow the spread of the virus.
The territory has not recorded any deaths linked to the virus.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe says today’s record number of new COVID-19 cases is “very concerning.”
Public health officials are reporting 439 new cases, but no additional deaths.
Moe says in a statement that Saskatchewan’s seven-day average for new cases is 203, which he says is the highest it’s ever been.
He says while it’s too soon for measures implemented last week to have made an impact, the government continues to “evaluate the situation closely and will consider further steps.”

1:50 p.m.
Manitoba is reporting 385 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 new deaths linked to the virus over the past day.
Most of the deaths involve people in their 60s or older and are connected to outbreaks at long-term care homes or other health facilities, but the province says one was a man in his 30s in the Winnipeg region.
There are 276 people in hospital with COVID-19, with 45 of those in intensive care.
So far, 217 people in Manitoba have died due to COVID-19.

Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting five new cases of COVID-19.
One is a man in his 70s who is a tenant of a retirement home in the small town of Grand Bank, on the Burin Peninsula.
Officials say there is now a cluster of six cases in Grand Bank, and all are connected.
Newfoundland and Labrador now has 18 active cases of COVID-19 with one person in hospital.

New Brunswick is reporting 23 new cases of COVID-19, the highest single-day jump in cases since the onset of the pandemic in March.
Health officials say 16 of the new cases are in the Saint John region, six are in the Moncton region and one is in the Fredericton area.
Both the Moncton and Saint John regions are under “orange” level public health restrictions under the province’s COVID-19 response plan.
The province now has 71 active cases, with one person in hospital.

Nova Scotia is reporting eight new cases of COVID-19, six of which are under investigation.
Public health officials say the eight new cases are in the central zone of the province.
Two cases are connected to previously identified diagnoses.
The province now has 33 active cases and as of Monday, residents of Halifax and parts of Hants County will be asked to limit their social gatherings to five people.

Quebec is reporting 1,189 new cases of COVID-19 today and 32 additional deaths linked to the novel coronavirus.
Public health authorities say five of those deaths occurred within the past 24 hours, with the rest taking place at an earlier date.
The Health Department says there are currently 646 people in hospital, an increase of 22 from the previous day.
Of those, 99 people are currently in intensive care, an increase of three from yesterday.

Ontario has set a new single-day high for new COVID-19 cases in the province.
The latest figures show 1,588 new cases of the virus over the past 24 hours, along with 21 new deaths.
Today’s numbers come a week after the previous one-day record of 1,581 cases set last Saturday.
Soaring case numbers prompted Premier Doug Ford to move the hot spots of Toronto and neighbouring Peel Region into the lockdown phase of the province’s COVID-19 management strategy effective Monday.
