Selfishness and irresponsibility.
That’s what you can blame if you’re wondering today why you had to tell your kid they won’t be going to the rink or their team is being split up into groups of eight.
Trust me, I had the conversation with my daughter about her cheer team, which is now moving to training groups of eight. She wasn’t impressed. She wants to see her entire team and practise the routine they were to be performing virtually in January.
But I didn’t blame Premier Scott Moe or Dr. Saqib Shahab. I blame whoever you are, who willingly went to gatherings well above the recommendations, who didn’t wear a mask, who sent their kid to practice sick, or the people who were told to self-isolate but sent their kid to their activities anyway.
That’s who I blame, the selfish and irresponsible. Because if the adults in the room could just follow some simple rules, like the majority of us, maybe we’re not in this situation today with a bunch of disappointed kids.
Our kids, by the way, should be commended. They’re a lot better at following their rules than their parents, clearly.
