Another positive COVID-19 case has been reported in a Regina high school.
Regina Public Schools (RPS) issued a media release Wednesday afternoon confirming that a positive case was diagnosed in an individual at Thom Collegiate.
As with other recent cases, RPS indicated all close contacts of that person were notified and provided with information on how and when to self-isolate. One class has been cancelled, so while the rest of the school will stay open, impacted students will move to remote learning starting Friday. They will be able to return to Thom on Dec. 11.
This follows a number of schools closing or sending students home due to positive COVID diagnoses on Tuesday.
Ecole Massey School was entirely closed until Dec. 14, and one classroom was shut down at Ethel Milliken School. In the Regina Catholic School Division, positive cases were reported Tuesday in individuals at St. Matthew School and Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School. Affected classrooms were closed at those schools until Dec. 9 and 11, respectively.
Both the public and Catholic schools have emphasized the virus is being transmitted in the public, not within schools.
