Police in Regina are looking for help to solve a sexual assault, as well as warning the public.
In a media release, the Regina Police Service (RPS) warns that there could be a potential increased risk to public safety after a report of a sexual assault early Sunday morning. The RPS says details are few so far, but officers are looking for information from anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance around 3:30 or 4 a.m. outside of a building on the 2900 block of 14th Ave, south of the Cathedral neighbourhood Safeway.
Details are few at this point; the RPS release notes that a woman was assaulted, went into the building, and then to the hospital. Police were contacted by staff at the hospital around 8:30 a.m. Monday. The release notes that their initial interview with the victim was brief, in order to ensure her safety and physical and mental well-being. Officers intend to re-interview the victim “when she may be better able to recall details such as a description of the suspect.”
Officers have since canvassed the area, but they are hoping that members of the public may be able to provide more information by calling 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
