Regina families need a helping hand to make Christmas happen after a difficult year.
The Salvation Army’s Capt. Kristen Gray says there has been a big increase in demand for 980 CJME’s Santas Anonymous, the annual toy drive for families in need.
“We saw a 30 per cent increase in the demand this year, so we have 1,500 families registered, which amounts to almost 4,000 children who will receive Christmas assistance through Santas Anonymous,” Gray told the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Wednesday.
But Gray is confident in Regina residents to come through.
“The city of Regina has been wonderful in supporting this program for many, many years and we know they won’t let us down this year either,” she said.
On Saturday, a drive-through collection will be hosted at the Canadian Tire in the east end of the city (2335 Prince of Wales Dr.). Volunteers will be taking donations between noon and 4 p.m.
“We’re looking forward to being able to fill up our bins so that we can make sure that no family goes without this Christmas,” Gray said.
