Three Saskatchewan-born players and two other players with ties to the province have cracked Canada’s roster for the 2021 world junior hockey championship in Edmonton.
Saskatoon’s Connor Zary, a forward with the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers, made the team. So did Yorkton’s Kaedan Korczak (a defenceman with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets) and Prince Albert’s Braden Schneider (who plays defence for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings).
Also making the team were Kaiden Guhle (a defenceman with the WHL’s Prince Albert Raiders who hails from Sherwood Park, Alta.) and Chicago Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach (a graduate of the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades whose hometown is Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.).
The tournament starts for Canada on Boxing Day in the Edmonton bubble. You can hear all of Canada’s games on 650 CKOM and 980 CJME.
