8:30 – While COVID-19 is a public health crisis the likes of which we’ve never seen before, it’s also creating a mental health crisis that’s increased feelings of depression and suicide among Canadians. That’s according to a recent CMHA study, which found 40% of Canadians reported worsening mental health, and a sharp increase in the number of Canadians experiencing thoughts or feelings of suicide. Margaret Eaton is the head of CMHA, and she joins Gormley to discuss how COVID-19 has affected Canada’s mental health.

12:00 – APAS’ Rural Connectivity Task Force is working and advocating to improve cell phone and Internet speeds in the rural parts of Saskatchewan, and the group released an interim report Thursday outlining what they’ve learned so far. According to APAS, a well-connected rural Saskatchewan could boost our GDP by as much as $1.2 billion, and poor connectivity has impacts on economic growth, health, education, safety, and the environment. Jeremy Welter is heading up the task force, and he joins Gormley to tell us more.
