There have now been 91 deaths in Saskatchewan related to the COVID-19 pandemic, after two more deaths were reported Monday.
The two deaths were both in the 80-and-over age group and lived in the Saskatoon and northwest zones. There have now been 36 COVID-related deaths in the last nine days.
Monday’s reporting also included 269 new cases of COVID in the province, with new cases reported in the Regina (59), Saskatoon (51), north central (50), northwest (30), northeast (17), central east (16), far northeast (14), far northwest (eight), southeast (six), south central (five), far north central (three), central west (two), and southwest (one) zones. Another seven cases have not had their residence information confirmed yet.
The total number of cases in Saskatchewan is now up to 12,238. There are currently 4,380 active cases. With 73 recoveries reported Monday, the total number of people who have recovered has reached 7,767.
There are 124 people in hospital, with 27 in intensive care in the Regina (11), Saskatoon (nine), north central (six), and southwest (one) areas. The other 97 hospitalized people are located in Saskatoon (41), Regina (30), north central (11), northwest (eight), southeast (four), central east (two), and south central (one) zones.
More health care workers are being diagnosed, with 158 new cases reported in the last two weeks, bringing the total to 419.
Saskatchewan also continues to see travelers to the province testing positive. There have now been 551 cases amongst people from outside the province, up from 479 on Dec. 1. The majority of cases, 5,523, are the result of community contacts. Another 3,409 are still under investigation, and 2,755 have no known exposure.
The seven-day average number of daily case is 262, or 21.7 cases per 100,000 population.
The 20-to-39 age range continues to see the most exposure, with 4,282 cases. There have been 3,200 cases in the 40-to-59 age range, 2,588 amongst those 19 and under, 1,627 in the 60-to-79 age range, and 536 in the 80-and-over range.
