Students across Regina in both the public and Catholic divisions moved to online learning Monday, which has some parents working hard to adapt.
Shaune Ulrich is a single dad with a six-year-old son, Theodore.
Ulrich is concerned about juggling work along with helping his son deal with remote learning.
“I don’t know how we’ll cram that (work) all into a few hours after work every night. My situation as a single dad leaves us in kind of a precarious spot,” he told the Greg Morgan Morning Show.
Ulrich recalls some specific issues from back when classes initially shut down in March.
“The online learning in Grade 1 was kind of a struggle in the beginning. Not only (was Theodore) trying to learn his curriculum, he was trying to learn how to use a tablet in the first place. That’s where the difficulty came in,” Ulrich said.
“He likes to learn regardless, to a point. He doesn’t take instructions from his dad very good, as opposed to in the classroom,” he added with a chuckle.
Still, Ulrich was optimistic that it’s likely only an extra two weeks of not being in the classroom.
Other parents weighed in on Facebook.
Monday, we return to online learning. Does this pose much of a problem in your household?

“It’s not convenient, but most things aren’t right now. It does require rescheduling on our part but I’m choosing to consider this situation in a positive light,” Rachel Weinbender Werrett said.
Rhonda Gee-O’Connor is also looking at the bright side.
“No, kids are exhausted and need a break. This is tough but we will all be ok,” she wrote.
Roberta Joanne Everest summed it up simply.
“Darn rights (it) poses problems but (it) also saves lives,” she wrote.
