Regina police officers used a Taser to bring down a Regina resident who refused to cooperate early Monday morning.
According to a media release, Regina Police Service officers got a report of dangerous driving around 2:15 a.m. Monday. The caller reported that the car had no headlights on and was swerving between lanes. Officers found the vehicle parked on the 2100 block of Rothwell St., near Victoria Ave. and Park St.
When officers approached the parked car and asked the driver to get out, he allegedly refused and put the vehicle in reverse, slamming into the officer’s car. According to the release, officers had to use a conducted energy weapon, known as a Taser, when the man kept refusing their demands. Emergency Medical Services assessed the man at the scene before he was placed in police custody.
The RPS has charged Shayne Turner, 31, of Regina with several charges, including dangerous driving, resisting arrest, breaching probation, and breaching an undertaking.
