Regina police started off the week by seizing guns and ammunition from a teenager.
In a media release, the Regina Police Service (RPS) said it carried out a search warrant in 4200 block of 4th Ave., in the Coventry Place area in the city’s west end. It was part of the service’s recent efforts to investigate guns in the city.
Patrol officers, the canine unit, and the property crime unit were all involved in the search. Police allege they found two guns, gun parts, ammunition, and a “large bladed weapon.”
A 16-year-old teen is facing charges, including possessing a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, possessing a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of careless storage of a gun, possession of a gun knowing the serial number has been tampered with, and two counts of possession of a gun and/or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The teen cannot be named by police because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
