EDMONTON — Canada defenceman Braden Schneider will miss Sunday’s game against Slovakia at the world junior hockey championship after being handed a one-game suspension by the IIHF.
Schneider delivered a bodycheck to the head of German forward Jan-Luca Schumacher in the first period of Canada’s 16-2 win on Saturday.
The six-foot-two 207-pound blue-liner will be eligible to return for Canada’s game against Switzerland on Tuesday.
Schneider was selected by the New York Rangers with the 19th overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
