Three more people in Saskatchewan have died with COVID-19.
Two of the deaths were in the 80+ age group and were from the Saskatoon and Regina zones, while one death was someone in the 50 to 59 age group in the north-central region.
There are 485 new cases of COVID-19 from Friday and Saturday, including 275 new cases on New Year’s Day, and 210 cases on Saturday. This brings the provincial total of active cases to 2,712.
The new cases were reported in the Regina (81), far northeast (90), southeast (24), Saskatoon (75), north-central (68), northwest (13), central-east (32), northeast (18), far northwest (13), south-central (18) areas. The location is still under investigation for 11 new cases.
Ten Saskatchewan residents tested out-of-province have been added to the case counts in the far northeast (1), north-central (1), northwest (7) and Regina (1) counts. Thirty-one previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the far northeast (3), northwest (1), and north-central (27) zones.
Recoveries were almost on par with the new cases, as there were 479 recoveries throughout the province over the two-day span.
As of Saturday, 3,722 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have been provided to health care workers in Regina and Saskatoon.
There will be 4,900 doses of the Moderna vaccine available to priority populations in the far north-central and far northwest regions starting on Monday.
In total, there are 160 people in hospitals throughout the province with COVID-19. There are 127 people receiving inpatient care spread out in the far northwest (2), northwest (9), north-central (30), northeast (2), Saskatoon (36), central-west (1), central-east (6), Regina (36), southwest (1) and southeast (4) zones.
There are 33 people in intensive care throughout Saskatchewan in the northwest (2), north-central (3), Saskatoon (11), central-east (1), Regina (14) south-central (1) and southwest (1) zones.
There were 2,735 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Thursday and 2,588 on Friday.
To date, 432,054 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.
