ANTAKYA, Turkey — On the heels of a four-goal performance midweek, Canadian international Cyle Larin scored again Sunday in Besiktas’ 2-2 tie at Hatayspor.
The 25-year-old from Brampton, Ont., tied the game at 2-2 in the 41st minute, rising high to head the ball home off a corner.
Veteran Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson also started for league-leading Besiktas (11-4-2) on Sunday. The Black Eagles hold a two-point lead over Istanbul rival Galatasaray (10-4-3) in the Turkish Super Lig.
Larin came into Sunday’s game tied for the Super Lig scoring lead with Hatayspor’s Aaron-Salem Boupendza with 10 goals apiece. The Gabon forward scored both goals for Hatayspor on Sunday, moving him one head of Larin.
Larin, has also scored two goals in other competitions for Besiktas this season, scored four times in the club’s 6-0 win Wednesday over visiting Caykur Rizespor.
Larin, a former MLS rookie of the year in 2015 with Orlando City, has won 31 caps for Canada, including 19 starts, with eight goals.
