Two teenage girls were arrested and charged over the weekend after allegedly stealing a car and trying to get away from police officers.
Regina Police Service officers tried to pull a vehicle over on Saturday evening around 6:45 p.m. on James Hill Road in the Harbour Landing area. According to a media release, the driver of the car tried to get away from the officers, but instead managed to crash into a building, a parked vehicle, and a lamp post. Three females ran from the car.
After confirming that the vehicle was stolen, officers were able to find all three nearby and took them into custody.
One person was released without being charged, and a 13-year-old was charged with stealing the car. A 15-year-old was charged with failing to stop after an accident and fleeing from police. The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents the names of the suspects from being released.
