The number of new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan on Tuesday was back over 300.
After three consecutive days of cases under that mark, the province reported 309 new cases along with six COVID-related deaths.
The individuals who died were a person in their 60s from the central-west zone and five people in the 80-and-over age group — two each in the Regina and southeast regions and one in the Saskatoon area.
To date, 225 residents of the province have died due to the coronavirus.
The new cases reported Tuesday were in the Saskatoon (69), Regina (43), north-central (30), northwest (29), far northwest (25), central-east (19), southeast (19), far northeast (18), far north-central (16), northeast (10), central-west (three) and southwest (three) zones.
The hometowns of 25 new cases are pending.
The provincial total of cases to date is 20,871.
There were 412 recoveries reported, the highest single-day total since 439 were announced on Jan. 6.
The number of active cases being reported in Saskatchewan is 4,156.
There are 31 people in intensive care in the province, with 15 in the Saskatoon area, eight in the Regina region, four in the north-central zone, three in the northwest and one in the south-central zone.
The 176 people receiving inpatient care are in the Saskatoon (56), Regina (45), north-central (24), northwest (11), southeast (10), central-east (10), northeast (nine), far northwest (seven), far north-central (one), central-west (one), southwest (one) and south-central (one) areas.
The total number of cases includes 1,165 health-care workers.
To date in the province, there have been 5,520 cases from the Saskatoon area, 5,449 cases in the north, 3,812 in the Regina region, 2,747 from the far north, 2,050 in the south, and 1,173 from the central area. The hometowns of 120 cases are being investigated.
The total includes 7,554 cases in the 20-to-39 age group, 5,236 from age 40 to 59, 4,514 involving people 19 and under, 2,630 between the ages of 60 and 79, and 929 in the 80-and-over age group. The ages of eight cases are unknown.
There were 1,957 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered Monday in Saskatchewan, increasing the province’s total so far to 24,575.
The total Monday comprised 688 shots in the Saskatoon area, 401 in the Regina region, 383 in the southeast, 200 in the far northwest, 132 in the northwest, 117 in the central-east and 36 in the north-central area.
The Ministry of Health said a shipment of 2,925 doses of the Pfizer vaccine is to arrive in the province this week. It’s to be divided between the Regina, Fort Qu’Appelle and North Battleford areas and will be used to continue vaccinating priority populations.
