Saskatchewan parents stayed consistent in 2020.
According to a media release Friday from eHealth Saskatchewan, Liam was the most popular name for baby boys born in the province last year — the 11th straight year that name topped the list — and Olivia was the most popular name for baby girls for the sixth year in a row.
There were 63 baby boys named Liam born in Saskatchewan in 2020, followed by Jack (48), Hudson (43), Noah (43) and Oliver (43).
The rest of the top 10 included William (42), Theodore (39), Maverick (37) and a three-way tie at 36 between Benjamin, Lincoln and Luke.
There were 69 baby girls named Olivia in the province last year. Other names in the top 10 were Emma (45), Amelia (43), Sophia (39), Emily (37), Harper (34), Addison (31), Ava (31), Ellie (31), Isla (30) and Scarlett (30).
According to eHealth, there were fewer babies born in Saskatchewan last year compared to 2019.
There were 14,668 live births in the province in 2019 but only 12,044 registered in Saskatchewan in 2020 as of Dec. 9. The final total for last year is to be determined in March.
