Saskatchewan officially is in the deep freeze.
Environment Canada has extended extreme cold warnings for the central and far north areas of the province.
The warning currently includes areas around Saskatoon, The Battlefords, Prince Albert, Melfort, Humboldt, Watrous and Kamsack.
“An arctic ridge of high pressure will allow for a very cold air mass from the north to sink over portions of southern and central Saskatchewan today,” read the advisory issued Friday at 4:25 a.m.
“Along with winds of 10 to 20 km/h, extreme wind chill values of -40 or colder are expected occur this morning. Many areas rebound only slightly from these bitterly cold values during the day before another round of more expansive cold sets in across the province Friday night.”
