Regina police say there will be no charges laid after an excavator struck and killed a 21-year-old Regina woman in November.
The incident happened on the morning of Nov. 4 in the 4500 block of Albert Street.
Police were called to the scene after receiving reports that a large, earth-moving vehicle had struck a woman.
She was declared dead at the scene by EMS.
Police found the driver of the vehicle shortly after and determined the vehicle was an excavator owned by the City of Regina and operated by a City of Regina employee.
Police have finished their investigation, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. After consulting the Crown, investigators determined the collision was not the result of a criminal or unlawful act.
Police say investigators have met with the woman’s family to answer questions and explain the processes in the investigation that led to this conclusion.
The investigation is now considered concluded.
The City of Regina announced earlier this month, it plans to make changes to the intersection.
The city announced it was installing a pedestrian corridor at the intersection of Albert and the south service roads. Work is to begin later this month.
