Jury trials are once again getting moved back at the Court of Queen’s Bench for Saskatchewan.
The court said all jury trials set to begin between April 1 and April 30, 2021, will be postponed. This applies to all Court of Queen’s Bench centres in the province.
The court said it is doing this to help safeguard the health of everyone inside the courtrooms and court facilities.
In an update, the court said people will be spoken to in court by video or audio conference on the original date of their trial unless otherwise directed by the judge assigned to their trial.
Criminal cases affected can make arrangements for re-election to trial by judge alone. If the accused wishes to proceed on that basis, the trial may proceed during the scheduled time period.
The court will grant rescheduling priority to those cases that are adjourned.
