The Regina Pats have made a move ahead of the WHL hub set to take place in Regina.
The Pats announced Thursday the club has dealt 17-year-old defencemen Daylan Weigel to the Swift Current Broncos in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Draft.
The Warman, Sask., product appeared in three pre-season games with the Pats in 2019 and played with the club once during the 2019-20 regular season.
The WHL is set to commence a shortened 24-game season on March 12. The WHL’s East Division will consist of all five Saskatchewan teams — the Pats, Saskatoon Blades, Prince Albert Raiders, Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos — and the two Manitoba based clubs — the Winnipeg ICE and Brandon Wheat Kings.
The 2021 WHL Draft is scheduled for December.
