Team Canada at the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be Team Canada at the 2022 event as well.
Kerri Einarson defended her title at the Canadian women’s curling championship, beating Ontario’s Rachel Homan 9-7 in Sunday’s final in Calgary.
Einarson also beat Homan in the 2020 Scotties final in Moose Jaw.
The team that wins the event returns to the tournament the following year as Team Canada.
In Sunday’s final, Homan led 3-2 after four ends, but Einarson put up a three in the fifth.
After the Ontario skip scored one in the sixth, Einarson notched a deuce in the seventh to lead 7-4.
Homan was forced to take one in the eighth, but stole two in the ninth to tie the game. Her last rock in the 10th end slid too far, allowing Einarson to score two without having to throw her final stone.
Team Canada qualified for the final with a 9-3 semifinal victory over Alberta’s Laura Walker on Sunday afternoon.
