The City of Regina is inviting businesses and organizations to put their stamp on the city.
A month after a controversial amendment to the city’s sponsorship policy was withdrawn, the city on Monday launched its sponsorship, naming rights and advertising program.
“Businesses of all sizes, from locally owned shops to international corporations, are an important part of any vibrant and health community,” Louise Folk, the city’s executive director of Citizen Experience, Innovation and Performance, said in a media release.
“The Sponsorship, Naming Rights & Advertising program provides a unique opportunity for businesses and community organizations to promote themselves and align with City programs and facilities that benefit the more than 230,000 residents throughout Regina.”
The city is looking to develop what it called “custom opportunities” with interested sponsors for parks, recreation and culture activities, and facilities in Regina. The revenue generated through the program will help maintain facilities and programs.
More information is available here. Those interested in a specific sponsorship or advertising platform can email the city (sponsor@regina.ca).
On Jan. 20, controversy erupted after an executive committee meeting during which Coun. Dan LeBlanc brought forward a motion aimed at banning fossil fuel companies from advertising on city property.
The motion was withdrawn a week later.
