Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning covering a band of southern Saskatchewan stretching from Swift Current to the Manitoba border, including the city of Regina.
About 10 to 15 centimetres is forecast.
Meteorologist Dave Carlsen said the snow will start falling Monday night, with the first few centimetres to melt as they hit the ground.
“It’s March and we’ve seen snowfalls as late as early May in parts of southern Saskatchewan. Odds are we’ll probably see more snowfall … I wouldn’t quite put the snow tires away yet,” he said.
The snow should taper off by Tuesday afternoon.
Drivers are being urged to be prepared for changing road conditions that could turn poor, especially for those living between Moose Jaw and Yorkton, Carlsen said.
“Make sure you’re keeping safe distances and speeds when driving,” he said. “The roads are probably going to be pretty treacherous for a little while.”
