You may have seen tributes over the weekend pouring in after the sad news that Sally Elliott had died.
She was a mainstay at the YMCA of Regina. Her little office full of baby announcements was right next to the classroom where expectant parents would arrive to meet this silver- and curly haired ball of energy.
She was there to tell all because you needed to hear it as you went into the world of childbirth. She was blunt, she was funny, she was honest and she was above all else genuine.
I’ve seen the tremendous impact she has had on expectant mothers through both joy and grief that can come with childbirth.
When she talked to you and the new mom, her eyes penetrated you when she asked, “How are you?” She truly would come to help if called upon to any mom in need. Or she’d tell the dads, “If you think you need me and the mother of your baby won’t admit it, call me!” And she meant it. And she did it for thousands of families who said, “Can you help?”
So from the dads, for all you’ve done for us and our babies and our partners: Thank you, Sally.
