Starting Wednesday afternoon, only one road leads to the COVID-19 drive-through testing and vaccination clinics at Evraz Place.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority said in a media release the only access to the grounds will be from the northbound lane on Lewvan Drive.
“Drivers are asked to make a right-hand turn from the most easterly lane into the grounds,” the SHA said in the release. “Be aware that the left-hand turning lane (heading south) on Lewvan Drive is closed. The site can only be accessed from Elphinstone Street for those with pre-booked appointments at the mass immunization clinic.”
According to the SHA, patrons who get onto the grounds will be sent to the proper line by onsite staff. As well, there now is additional space on the grounds to provide better traffic flow into the site from the street.
“The line for drive-through immunizations will be considered full once the onsite space has reached capacity; this will allow access for those with pre-booked immunization appointments or those seeking drive-through COVID-19 testing,” the SHA said.
The release added 600 cars can be accommodated on the grounds at any given time, with an estimated wait time of six hours at that level of traffic. The estimated wait times can be found on the SHA website.
“Throughout the day, there may be intermittent periods of time where access to drive-through immunization is restricted until there is a reduction of vehicles on site,” the SHA said. “We will reopen access once that occurs.
“The City of Regina and the Regina Police Service will also implement traffic control and will stop the line of traffic if it is determined the traffic volumes are becoming a safety risk,” the release added. “If this occurs, you will be directed to return at a later time. Booked appointments will still be accommodated.”
Drivers are reminded to follow the green signs for the AstraZeneca drive-through vaccination clinic. It’s open from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis for 60- to 64-year-olds.
The yellow signs will take drivers to the COVID-19 testing drive-through site, which is open from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The blue signs are to guide those who have a pre-booked COVID immunization appointment. Access for those appointments also can occur from Elphinstone and 10th Avenue.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This is an amended version of this story; the SHA clarified the use of the entrance on Elphinstone Street.
