The Regina Police Service has fined two women $2,800 after a gathering was held Saturday to protest Saskatchewan’s public health orders related to COVID-19.
In a media release Wednesday, police said officers were monitoring an event that started in Victoria Park at about 1 p.m. At around 1:40 p.m., police said, there were about 60 people at the gathering.
“Police observed apparent violations of the Public Health Order which limit, among other things, the size of public gatherings,” the police said in a release.
According to the RPS, tickets will be given to at least three other people in connection with the gathering. Since the tickets must be personally served, the RPS has asked for help from the RCMP and another municipal police service to hand out the tickets.
“The Regina Police Service reminds the public that the Public Health Orders are law, not a suggestion,” the release said.
