The drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic at Regina’s Evraz Place has extended its hours.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority said Wednesday the site now will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
“With the increase in COVID-19 variants of concern (VoC) in the Regina area, it’s more important than ever to get tested, even if you have mild symptoms or feel you’ve been in a situation where transmission has occurred,” the SHA said in a media release.
“Extended testing hours will remain in effect until testing demand and the spread of COVID-19 in Regina has decreased.”
The Regina region is currently the province’s hotspot for COVID and its variants. As of Tuesday, there were 1,039 active cases of COVID in the area and 1,298 cases of variants of concern had been detected in the region.
The SHA reminded people who want to be tested at the site that it’s experiencing lengthy wait times because it’s first come, first served. The wait times for the Regina clinic, and others around the province, can be seen here.
Anyone seeking a test at the drive-through sites must have a valid Saskatchewan Health card for everyone in the car who’s being tested, or another form of identification like a health card from another province, a driver’s licence or a passport.
As well, everyone has to wear a mask during the registration process.
