The Milden Hotel and Bar is the latest Saskatchewan establishment to be fined for violating COVID-19 measures.
In a media release Monday, the Ministry of Health said the hotel and bar had been fined $14,000 for failing to comply with the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.
As well, the ministry said an individual had been fined $2,800 for violating a public health order. No other information was provided.
The ministry also reported 219 new COVID-19 cases, 212 recoveries and one death — an individual in their 60s from the Saskatoon region. To date, 440 Saskatchewan residents have died due to COVID.
The government also said there were 86 new cases of variants of concern in the province, increasing the total to date to 2,453.
A look at the numbers
The cases of variants in Saskatchewan identified by screening are in the Regina (1,756), south-central (204), southeast (195), Saskatoon (151), central-east (41), north-central (18), central-west (12), southwest (10), far northeast (four) and northwest (three) zones. Residence information is pending on 59 cases.
Of the 951 variants of concerns with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 943 are the United Kingdom variant and eight are the South African strain.
The Regina zone accounts for 803 of the total.
The new COVID cases reported Monday were in the Regina (110), Saskatoon (44), south-central (20), central-east (12), southeast (10), northwest (eight), north-central (four), northeast (four), far northwest (three), central-west (one) and southwest (one) zones. The hometowns of two cases are unknown.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 218, or 17.8 per 100,000 population.
To date, Saskatchewan has recorded 34,763 cases.
The recoveries announced Monday increased that total so far to 32,121. There are 2,202 active cases in the province, the highest-such number since it was 2,204 on Feb. 8. The Regina region has 1,121 active cases.
There are 195 people in Saskatchewan hospitals, including a single-day record of 47 in intensive care. There are 31 ICU cases in Regina, with eight in Saskatoon, three in each of the north-central and south-central areas and two in the central-east zone.
The 3,330 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Sunday hiked that total to date to 684,404.
Vaccination update
There were 7,241 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Saskatchewan on Saturday, increasing the total to date to 221,533.
A 48-hour lag is now built into the government’s vaccination data.
The latest shots were given in the Regina (2,122), Saskatoon (1,507), north-central (766), south-central (705), northwest (638), southeast (504), central-east (386), southwest (268), northeast (67), central-west (60), far northeast (55) and far northwest (15) zones. The residences are pending on 148 recipients.
