Lumsden’s Jamie Lees is hoping supporters of her town’s Kraft Hockeyville bid will vote in droves this weekend.
Voting for the contest begins Friday at 7 a.m., and is to close the next day at 3 p.m.
As one of the finalists, the town stands to win $250,000 in arena upgrades as well as the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game.
“The kids — that’s what it’s all about, right? To just see them rallying behind this and to watch them in their eyes as those NHL players come into town would be so cool,” said Lees, who has been the one spearheading Lumsden’s campaign.
Being crowned the 2021 #KraftHockeyville grand prize winner can really make a positive impact for a community. Vote for one of the Top 4 starting on April 9th at 9am ET. You can learn all about these communities at https://t.co/RAqCt7OqPu@NHL @NHLPA @Sportsnet pic.twitter.com/ABr3S778AV

Speaking on the Greg Morgan Morning Show on Monday, she pointed out that no Saskatchewan community has ever won the contest.
“We’re really trying to get the message out to all of Saskatchewan and really all of Canada,” Lees said.
“All of the province of Newfoundland is backing us, we have quite a few Alberta people … trying to get everybody just in Saskatchewan on board.”

Results will be unveiled the following Saturday, live on Hockey Night in Canada.
“I get to be the lucky one who’s going to be sitting on-camera, pacing back and forth and I find out when the rest of the world does,” Lees said.
