Drivers on Highway 11 are going to encounter delays in the Lumsden Valley starting Monday.
Traffic restrictions are to be put in place in preparation for work on the northbound bridge over the Qu’Appelle River and the northbound overpass over Highway 20.
Both are being rehabilitated, with work to begin Tuesday. The Ministry of Highways said in a release the project is expected to be done by late fall.
Both bridges are to be worked on at the same time, so traffic is to be restricted to one lane at each site. The ministry said drivers will have to slow to 80 kilometres per hour before they enter the valley and 60 km/h through the construction site.
“The Lumsden Valley is a scenic and very busy part of Highway 11,” Highways Minister Fred Bradshaw said in the release. “Investing in bridge structures along this important shipping route will not only help us maintain traffic flow but also enhance safety for the thousands of motorists who rely on this highway each year.”
