A workplace injury in Regina in December of 2018 has resulted in a fine of $182,000 against Shawcor Ltd.
The company pleaded guilty in Regina Provincial Court to a violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 (failing to provide an effective safeguard where a worker may contact a dangerous moving part of a machine, resulting in a serious injury).
The incident occurred Dec. 17, 2018, when a worker was hurt after getting caught in a piece of machinery.
The company was fined $130,000 and had to pay a $52,000 surcharge.
