Kindergarten students will be going to school for full days every other day in the Regina Catholic School Division (RCSD) this fall as the board deals with budget pressures.
The decision allows the board to save money on its transportation costs and allocate those dollars to other areas of the budget. It expects a budget shortfall for the 2021-22 school year.
“We recognize that this will be an adjustment for our Kindergarten families and acknowledge that they will be seeking a schedule as soon as possible in order to plan their childcare/work schedules,” the school division said in a news release.
“We anticipate the schedule/calendar for kindergarten to be ready by the end of June.”
Regina Public Schools offers full-day Kindergarten on alternating days as well.
